Directories have always been a great source of backlinks. I think...hmmmm...I should not waste any more time to explain you what BACKLINKS are all about. But recently search engines have started devaluing links from General Directories. Mind it that I have mentioned only general directories.
But my experience and my intuition suggests me that backlinks from niche directories can not be ignored. Search Engine Algorithms are always been difficult to be tracked. They just want web masters to work harder to achieve ranks in SERPs (search engine result pages). If you are really searious about getting search engine traffic, then you need to submit your site to your local directories and niche directories.
I hope now you might have realized the significance of backlinks from niche directories. Don not think that directory submission has lost its value so far as SEO is concerned.
I would love to receive comments on this topic.
