Google Page Rank - short analysis

Posted by Vadim Nareyko on: 2006-05-08 19:28:16

Self SEO > Search Engine Articles

Different pages have a different page rank in Google – from 0 to 10. I decided to make a short analysis of it.

At first, I tried to find 11 domains with different ranks – from 0 to 10. I used only one restriction – it must be only entry pages for domains, not internal. As result of my research I created following table:

(*) - I didn't find a domain with rank 1. If you will find one – please, contact me by email vadim at nareyko dot com.

Then a did two types of search: “name popularity” and “link popularity”. Name popularity means that I took a “brand” keyword of domain and tried to search. Link popularity means that I used “link:http://[domain]” to find all pages linked to this domain.

Result:

Sure, you will have another numbers of these searches since information is changing constantly.

At first, you can see that results are different for different search engines. And Google don't count all links (this engine have more documents for most sites but less links than other engines). It means that Google has a mechanism to exclude “non-good pages” (lot of links, unranked, etc).

Then, ranks from 0 to 4 can be reached just by content of pages and additional parameters (which were not included in this short research). But rank from 5 to 10 mostly depends on an amount of links to pages and quality of these pages.

So, increasing an amount of links to your site will improve your rating. But you need to be sure that links are situated on good sites.

Sure, a full analysis of Google page rank must contain more parameters (age of domain, rank of pages which links and so one).
